I though I'd take a look at the tracks on the recent Amandine Bourgeois album Au Masculin, just to see how they looked and sounded in their 'Versions Originales'.
The album sees the singer take a collection of songs made popular originaly by male artists, and re-interprets them in her own style.
It includes work made famous by some of France's most iconic male artists.
A look at the original versions gives a pretty good crash course into some of France's recent-ish musical history.
It's the singer's third album, a release that came the year after she represented Franc ein the Eurovison Song contest with the song L'enfer et moi. She's also featured in the two Génération Goldman compilations that were huge sellers in France.
She initially came to fame in the TV series Nouvelle Star in 2007, winning the title. During the series she performed workd by Bob Dylan, Jacques Brel and Johnny Hallyday, among others.
The album Au Masculin was released in May this year.
